The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to permanently forfeit 57 properties allegedly linked to Abubakar Malami, former Minister of Justice. The EFCC argued that the evidence provided by the respondents was insufficient to overturn an earlier interim forfeiture order. An EFCC investigator stated that Malami's legitimate earnings were disproportionate to the value of the properties in question and alleged that some were acquired through third parties under his control.
