Ekiti Guber: INEC raises alarm over voter apathy, fake news ahead of June 20 poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed concerns over rising voter apathy and the spread of fake news ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State. INEC Chairman Mohammed Kudu Haruna noted that voter turnout has declined to nearly 30% in recent elections, despite a 40% turnout in the 2022 election. He urged the media to play a more active role in reversing this trend and to strengthen fact-checking mechanisms.
