EU Commits Ksh74.1 Billion to Ebola Response Following Ruto's G7 Appeal

The European Union has announced a Ksh74.1 billion (€493 million) funding package to support the Ebola response, following Kenyan President William Ruto's appeal at the G7 Summit in France. The package includes emergency medical support, humanitarian assistance in the Great Lakes region and Uganda, as well as vaccine research and health system strengthening. European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib stated that the EU remains a reliable partner. This pledge comes after US President Donald Trump suggested that no country or bloc had committed significant funding apart from the United States.
