'Extreme' marine heatwave expected for parts of UK with risk to sea life

A marine heatwave could reach 'extreme' levels around parts of the UK this week, according to the Met Office, with sea temperatures up to 4-5°C above average. Fueled by heat domes and long-term climate change, it threatens seagrasses, shellfish, and other marine life. Scientists, including Dr Zoe Jacobs of the National Oceanography Centre, fear serious ecological impacts.
