A French court found cement group Lafarge guilty of financing terrorism through its Syrian subsidiary, imposing a fine of 1.12 million euros and confiscating 30 million euros in assets. Eight former employees, including former CEO Bruno Lafont, received prison sentences ranging from one to six years for financing terrorist organizations. The court determined that Lafarge paid 5.59 million euros to armed groups, including ISIL, to keep its operations running in Syria.
