Malmesbury mass shooting: Suspect arrested in connection with deaths of pregnant woman and man

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday, 13 July 2026, and is expected to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrates' Court on Tuesday for the murder of a 21-year-old pregnant woman and a 22-year-old man in a mass shooting in Wesbank, Malmesbury. Police spokesperson Andrè Traut confirmed that the number of attempted murder victims has increased from seven to eight. Policing in the area remains reinforced to prevent further violence. At least 31 people have been killed in mass shootings since Operation Prosper was launched in Cape Town.
