Improved action, reliable financing needed to end spread of viral hepatitis - WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reiterated its commitment to ending the spread of viral hepatitis by 2030. A report revealed that hepatitis B and C caused 1.34 million deaths globally in 2024, with over 4,900 new infections daily. While progress has been made, including a 32% drop in new hepatitis B infections, the WHO calls for accelerated action and reliable financing to meet the 2030 elimination targets.
