Goma: US sanctions target two senior commanders of armed groups in North Kivu

The US State Department imposed financial and legal sanctions on Gustave Kubwayo, a commander of the FDLR, and John Imani Nzenze, head of intelligence for the M23/AFC, for serious human rights violations. They are accused of ethnic violence, child soldier recruitment, sexual violence, and cross-border attacks. The US aims to compel conflict parties to comply with the Washington Accords and the Doha process.
