Europe pumps more visitors to Zanzibar

Zanzibar welcomed nearly 70,000 tourists by June 2026, a 3.1% increase from the same period last year and 73.4% higher than May. Europe accounted for 61.9% of arrivals, with 43,105 visitors. Tourism contributes 29.2% to Zanzibar's GDP and 80% of its foreign exchange earnings. Leisure travelers dominate at 99.2%, with an average stay of eight days.
