The Senate Committee on Public Accounts rejected the NMDPRA’s PMS import figures for 2022 and 2023, citing major discrepancies with records from NNPCL. NMDPRA reported imports of 3.29 billion litres in 2022 and 6.02 billion in 2023, while NNPCL reported 6.27 billion and 3.88 billion litres, respectively. Senators Abdul Ningi, Dayo Faduyile and Anietan Bassey called for a thorough investigation, arguing that the differences could not be dismissed as slight. Committee chair Ahmed Wadada Dankwambo said the heads of NMDPRA, NNPCL and NEITI would be summoned to explain and reconcile the conflicting records.
