Former Nigerian Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar reveals in his autobiography 'Call of Duty' the dramatic circumstances surrounding the death of military ruler Sani Abacha in 1998. On June 8, 1998, he was urgently summoned to the Presidential Villa, where he was locked in a waiting room for over an hour. The door was finally opened by Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Coomassie, who told him Abacha had died. Abdulsalami was then the number two in government after the detention of General Diya.
