Kenya takes more than half of African ClimateTech funding

Kenya received 51.3% of recorded ClimateTech funding in Africa between 2019 and 2025, according to the report “The State of ClimateTech in Africa 2.0.” The country is emerging as a hub for companies using technology to cut emissions while improving access to essential services.

Banks start enforcing 16% VAT on digital payment charges

Banks and fintech companies have begun adding 16% VAT to fees for processing electronic payments, settling card transactions and operating payment gateways. The tax is raising digital payment costs for businesses and households. A Business Daily spot check found that banks and payment companies had configured their systems to apply the levy, which took effect in July.
