In N'Djamena, Félix Tshisekedi calls for development of water infrastructure in Africa

Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi arrived in N'Djamena on July 15, 2026, at the invitation of Chadian counterpart Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, to attend the African Water Forum. In his speech, he called for local production of pipes, pumps, meters, and other water equipment in Africa. He proposed five guidelines: integrating public policies, strengthening governance, ensuring accountability, preparing technically and financially mature projects, and financing water infrastructure. Tshisekedi also announced a target to increase access to clean water in the DRC to 60% by 2035.
