Macky Sall reaches out for ‘handshake’ with Faye, in search of UN top job

Former Senegalese President Macky Sall is seeking a meeting with his successor Bassirou Diomaye Faye to gain support for his UN Secretary-General bid. Sall, who had jailed Faye before the April 2024 elections, is attempting a political thaw. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026. Sall was nominated by Burundi but lacks backing from Senegal and the African Union.

EU court upholds Spanish amnesty law as compatible with EU law
