Kenya: Rastafari disappointed after rejection of cannabis legalization

The Rastafari community in Kenya expressed disappointment after the court rejected their request to legalize cannabis for religious use. The judge ruled that cannabis consumption is not a central and mandatory element of Rasta worship. Kenyan law penalizes cannabis possession with up to 10 years in prison and a fine. The Kenya Rastafari Society (RSK) had filed a lawsuit in 2021.
