KWS Grants Conservancy Status to Konza to Attract More Investments

The Kenya Wildlife Service has granted provisional registration to the Konza Technopolis Wildlife Conservancy, covering 404.69 hectares of protected land. This makes Konza the first and only purpose-built smart city in Africa with a formally registered wildlife conservancy. The protected area is part of a 1,000-acre wildlife corridor within the 5,000-acre smart city project, intended to maintain ecological connectivity and attract technology firms. The conservancy supports species such as the Grey Crowned Crane, Rüppell's Griffon Vulture, and Maasai Giraffe, and is expected to boost eco-tourism and sustainable development.
