China remains the leading international trading partner with the East African Community

The East African Community recorded strong growth in international trade, with China as the leading trading partner. In the fourth quarter of 2025, trade reached US$ 42.4 billion, supported by increases in both imports and exports. Imports grew by 15.4% to US$ 79.6 billion, while exports rose by 37.7% to US$ 77.0 billion, narrowing the trade deficit to US$ 2.5 billion.
