Police crack down on cultism in secondary school, recover firearm from student in Taraba

The Taraba State police command arrested an 18-year-old student suspected of cult-related activities and recovered a mini revolver pistol without ammunition in Jalingo. The arrest occurred on July 14, 2026, following a report from the management of Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau Institute for Koranic Memorization. The suspect, Usman A. Usman, allegedly obtained the firearm from another student, Akilu Alhassan, who is at large. The Commissioner of Police ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation.
