Is Mali’s military government losing control?

A coalition of armed groups and rebels is challenging the authority of Mali's military government, which has been in power since a coup in 2020. Fighters linked to al-Qaeda have joined forces with Tuareg rebels to seize control of several towns. The military government has accused France, the former colonial power, of backing these attacks while seeking regional support to remain in power.
