MPs Push for End on School Uniform Purchase Restrictions & Extra Levies

MPs, led by Nyeri Town MP Duncan Mathenge, are proposing to end discriminatory practices regarding school uniform purchases and extra charges. The motion aims to ensure access to free and compulsory basic education as guaranteed by Articles 53 and 43 of the Constitution. One key proposal is to allow parents to purchase uniforms from any vendor, ending the requirement to buy from specific shops. Additionally, there is a proposal to ban sending students home over non-statutory fees.
