Nigerians now among world's hungriest people — Peter Obi slams Tinubu

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration for worsening food insecurity. Obi noted that Nigeria's hunger index ranking dropped from 103rd to 115th out of 123 countries between 2022/2023 and 2025/2026. The World Bank forecasts that 33 million Nigerians could experience severe hunger, making Nigeria the country with the highest number of hungry people globally. Obi calls for transparent investments in agricultural production to ensure food security and create employment.
