Japan’s pet care industry booms as ‘fur babies’ outnumber infants

Japan's pet care industry is booming, with pets outnumbering children under 15 by over 2 million. Shin Ohta of Lucky Industries developed Nu-i dog hip carriers after his toy poodle got tired on walks. The company showcased at Tokyo's Interpets conference, where many owners carry pets in strollers or slings. According to Euromonitor, the market is worth 8 billion yen.
