Israel election result shows no overall majority as vote count complete

The count in Israel’s election is complete, but neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc nor the opposition led by Gadi Eisenkot has a majority. Haaretz reported that Netanyahu’s bloc won 53 of the Knesset’s 120 seats, the opposition 48, and Arab list parties 19; 61 seats are needed for a majority. The results remain provisional pending certification and announcement by Wednesday. On Thursday, Eisenkot met Naftali Bennett and Yair Golan to discuss coalition options.
