Trade-based money laundering (TBML) is an emerging threat to financial integrity in Kenya, particularly in trade hubs. It exploits the international trade system by manipulating invoices and pricing to disguise illicit financial flows. To combat this threat, the Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) needs to strengthen data integration and analytics to enable real-time detection of suspicious activities.
