Medical insurance claims double in five years

Medical insurance claims in Kenya nearly doubled over five years to Sh52.61 billion, driven by rising healthcare costs and increased utilization. Premiums rose 81.1% to Sh93.28 billion. Kenya's healthcare costs are projected to grow 13.5% this year, among the fastest in Africa. Employers are adopting higher deductibles and co-payments to manage the cost spiral.
