Electoral Court rejects United Democratic Front Party’s late ward nominations bid

The Electoral Court dismissed the United Democratic Front Party's application to submit nominations for councillor candidates for about 110 wards in the City of Cape Town. The party argued it could not meet the deadline due to a prolonged registration process, finalized only four days prior. Judge Leicester Adams stated that the Independent Electoral Commission could not exempt one party from a deadline that applies to all others.
