The WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised Uganda's prompt and capable response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). During a visit to Uganda, he highlighted border screening and surveillance systems. He urged easing border restrictions that have disrupted local trade. The outbreak, caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain, was declared on May 15 and is the third-largest in history.
