Russia ready to support Mozambique in its fight against terrorism

Russia has declared its readiness to support Mozambique in its fight against the jihadist insurgency in the gas-rich northern province of Cabo Delgado. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, visiting Maputo, assured that Moscow would respond to Mozambican authorities' requests to address the terrorist threat. Mozambique has been facing this insurgency since 2017. The meeting took place between President Daniel Chapo and Lavrov.
