Cocoa: Abidjan and Accra enlist Abuja and Yaoundé, how it changes the global game

Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana have expanded their cocoa alliance (CIGCI) to include Nigeria and Cameroon during a summit in Abidjan on June 16, 2026. Presidents Alassane Ouattara and John Dramani Mahama announced the expansion to strengthen the bargaining power of African producers against multinationals. The goal is to pool market intelligence, research, and international advocacy. The four countries represent a significant share of global cocoa production.
