2026 Amending Finance Bill Plenary: What Happened to Ousmane Sonko at the National Assembly?

At the opening of the November 3 plenary session on the 2026 supplementary finance bill, Malick Ndiaye chaired the debate instead of Ousmane Sonko. Bill No. 40/2026 had already been rejected twice by Pastef majority lawmakers on the Finance Committee, leaving its fate in the National Assembly uncertain. It also objected to Governor Hyacinth Alia chairing the council while Akume was listed only as a member, and accused Alia’s administration of sidelining established party structures since the 2023 elections. The alliance said it remains committed to mobilising support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election and for APC candidates recognised by Akume.

The forum credited Audi with improvements in professionalism and operational capacity, including protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity installations and telecommunications infrastructure. It also urged young Nigerians to support security agencies and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
