Nairobi Among Areas to Receive Rains and Cold Weather This Weekend

The Kenya Meteorological Services Authority (KMSA) has issued a weekend weather advisory from June 5 to 8, forecasting occasional rains in at least 21 counties, including Nairobi, Central, Rift Valley, Western, Lake Victoria basin, Coastal and North Eastern regions. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in Western, Lake Victoria basin, and Rift Valley. Very cold weather is forecast in Central Kenya with night temperatures dropping to as low as 6°C, while some areas in Northwestern and Coastal regions will experience daytime highs of up to 37°C.

Cross River facing renewed threat of wildlife poaching, trafficking - NESREA

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has raised concerns over a resurgence of wildlife poaching and trafficking in Cross River State, Nigeria. Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for judges and magistrates in Calabar, director Raymond Anunobi highlighted the increasing collaboration between international criminal syndicates and local accomplices. The workshop, organized under the EU-funded GUARD Wildlife Project, aims to strengthen prosecution of wildlife crimes. Conservator of Cross River National Park, Joseph Ntui, linked wildlife trafficking to money laundering, insecurity, and arms proliferation.
