Nigeria Police secures permanent forfeiture of assets valued over N2bn in Lagos, Osun, Delta

The Nigeria Police Force, through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja, secured two landmark judgments at the Federal High Court in Abuja. On May 14, Justice Emeka Nwite granted a permanent forfeiture order on assets valued over N2 billion belonging to financial sector staff Alonge Opeyemi Yetunde and her accomplices. The forfeited assets span Lagos, Osun, Delta States and the FCT, including bank accounts, digital wallets, vehicles, and real estate. The principal suspect is remanded at Suleja Correctional Centre facing fraud and money laundering charges. In a related ruling on May 13, Justice Bello Kawu dismissed a N100 million Fundamental Rights Enforcement Suit filed by US-based David Imole Averehi against the Nigeria Police, ruling that the court cannot be used to obstruct police duties.
