Violence in northern Ethiopia pushing health system towards collapse: WHO

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that fighting and drone strikes in northern Ethiopia are pushing an already fragile health system closer to collapse. Hospitals face shortages of health workers, medicines and equipment, ambulance services are severely limited, and access to essential care is increasingly at risk. Sources involved in rescue operations said at least 15 people, several of them children, were killed in Friday’s drone strikes on the Jaari 2 displacement camp in the Amhara region. Tedros also reported that several people were killed while seeking food in Rama, in Tigray, but gave no overall death toll and did not identify those responsible.
