NAFDAC threatens to shut bakeries over banned bread improvers

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) warned bakers in Niger State against using banned substances, particularly potassium bromate and saccharin, in bread production. During a sensitization program in Minna, the NAFDAC coordinator emphasized that non-compliance could lead to the immediate closure of bakeries and other sanctions. The Chairman of the Master Bakers Association of Niger stated that growing consumer concerns over bread quality prompted the association to strengthen monitoring of its members.
