Eleven Health Zones Targeted by New UNAIDS Initiatives Against HIV in Ituri

UNAIDS launched two community support projects in Bunia (Ituri) to protect people living with HIV, targeting eleven health zones in the territories of Irumu, Djugu, and Mambasa. The interventions focus on pregnant women and children with HIV, including home delivery of antiretroviral drugs to limit travel. Among the targeted zones are Bunia, Nyakunde, Rwampara, Nizi, Mungwalu, Komanda, and Mambasa, areas most exposed to the Ebola epidemic. The goal is to ensure continuity of care and reduce vulnerability to Ebola, which was officially declared in the DRC on May 15.
