6 Killed After Gunmen Ambush 14-Seater Matatu in Mandera

At least six people have been confirmed dead following an armed attack on a public service vehicle in the Beer Awayon area of Mandera County on May 9, 2026. The victims were family members traveling to an annual Quran recitation gathering when gunmen ambushed their vehicle. Several other passengers sustained injuries, and an unknown number of individuals are still unaccounted for.
