More than 1.2 million people in Lebanon are expected to face acute hunger this year due to conflict, displacement, and economic pressures, according to a UN-backed report. Prior to the war that erupted on March 2, approximately 874,000 people, or 17% of the population, were already experiencing food insecurity. WFP's country director in Lebanon, Allison Oman Lawi, stated that families who were managing to cope are now being pushed back into crisis due to escalating violence and rising costs.
