Palm oil: facing local supply drop, Cameroon prepares new imports in 2026

Cameroon is set to resort to new palm oil imports in the second half of 2026 to avoid supply disruption. A meeting on June 2, 2026 at the Ministry of Commerce, chaired by Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, revealed national availability has fallen below 10,000 tons while demand from households and industries remains high. Imports are a security measure, but international prices are under pressure due to biodiesel demand and tensions in vegetable oil markets. Analyst Dorab Mistry expects further price increases.
