Trump Says Iran Asked Him to Stop Killing Its Leaders, and He Will

On the eve of the November 3 U.S. midterm elections, Donald Trump said Iran had asked him to stop killing its leaders and that the United States would comply. He claimed victory over Iran, saying the United States had won despite barely fighting. Trump had previously referred to a promise to stop eliminating Iranian officials at an October 14 rally in Arizona, and said on October 24 that he needed to know whom the United States was negotiating with. He had also announced a pause in strikes on Iran until the election; the conflict began on February 28 with U.S.-Israeli strikes that killed the supreme leader.
