In the Democratic Republic of Congo, two opposition figures were wounded on Friday during a rally against the government's plan to amend the Constitution. The rally was dispersed by police after clashes with government supporters. President Félix Tshisekedi, in power since 2019, reaches the end of his second five-year term in 2028, and under the current Constitution cannot run again, but has stated he would accept to lead the country.
