Security Sector Reform in DRC: EU Calls for Increased Internal Resource Mobilization

The European Union urged Congolese authorities to increase their financial and strategic commitment to the Security Sector Reform (SSR) during a meeting in Kinshasa on June 12, 2026. Led by MONUSCO, the meeting brought together international partners who reaffirmed their support for a more effective security policy. Special advisor to the President, Cachemire Eberande Kolongele, welcomed the mobilization. The SSR is considered urgent and structural to address instability in the East and security governance challenges.
