Democratic Republic of the Congo: a deadly Ebola epidemic is raging in the east

A new Ebola virus outbreak has been declared in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 246 suspected cases and 65 reported deaths according to the Africa CDC. The affected province is Ituri in the northeast, which is also plagued by recurring conflicts among local militias.
