Resurgence of Urban Crime in the DRC

Urban crime in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in Kinshasa, is experiencing a worrying resurgence with incidents of kidnappings, killings, and robberies. On March 31, a group of eight armed individuals attacked a shop in Ngaliema, causing panic without any casualties. A meeting at the Ministry of the Interior identified the causes of this rise in crime and proposed measures, including a crackdown on illegal weapons.
