Rwanda Considers Restricting Social Media Use for Children Under 16

The Rwandan government is considering a law that would prohibit children under 16 from accessing social media to enhance child protection in the digital space. Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, stated that recent studies show 46% of schoolchildren access online platforms without adequate parental supervision. She also highlighted the growing psychological impact of social media use among young people, affecting their concentration in class.
