Philippines earthquake kills 15, prompts tsunami fears: All to know

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the southern Philippines near Mindanao on June 8, 2026, killing at least 15 people and injuring 129. The epicenter was 32 km west of Maasim in Sarangani province. Tsunami alerts were issued for the southern Philippines, northern Indonesia, and Malaysia's Sabah state. Over 138 aftershocks were recorded, the largest at magnitude 6.7.
