At least two dead as heavy rains, floods strike central Texas

Two people have died, and more than 230 were rescued, as torrential rains and flash floods ravaged central Texas. One victim was swept away near Uvalde, and John Mark Steward of Kerrville died after his mobile home was carried off by floodwaters from Goat Creek. Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for 59 counties, deploying 2,350 emergency responders, 800 vehicles, and 75 boats. The floods hit the same region where 139 people died in floods just over a year ago.
