Kevin Warsh has passed a major hurdle to become the next chair of the United States Federal Reserve. His nomination was approved by the Senate Banking Committee, with 13 Republicans voting in favor and 11 Democrats against. Warsh's nomination will be submitted to the full Senate for a vote, which could take place as early as May 11. The recent decision by the Department of Justice to drop the criminal investigation into Jerome Powell has cleared Warsh's path to the Fed chair position.
