2027: Christians now more comfortable with Muslim-Muslim ticket - APC chieftain

An APC chieftain, Farouk Aliyu, said Nigerian Christians are now more comfortable with the Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2027 presidential election than before 2023. He argued that President Bola Tinubu's administration has allayed fears of religious marginalization. Tinubu retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for 2027. Aliyu defended the decision, stating the party wanted to keep a winning ticket.

Mali: After the clashes in Anefis, the army reviews its deployment

On July 14, Colonel-Major Karim Traoré, commander of the Eastern Theater of Operation Dougoukoloko, visited Anefis (Kidal region) to assess military deployment and logistical needs after clashes from July 4 to 9. The fighting pitted the FAMa, Africa Corps, and GATIA-MSA against the FLA and JNIM. Bamako claims to have retaken control of Anefis and is continuing operations in surrounding areas. Traoré succeeded Brigadier General Mamadou Massaoulé Samaké as head of the Eastern Theater on June 11.
