Gunfire near airport in Niger's capital, residents say

Gunfire erupted early on Thursday at the airport in Niger's capital, Niamey, according to residents. The shooting, heard around 6 a.m., was coming from the airport entrance. This follows a major jihadist attack at the same facility in January, claimed by the Islamic State in the Sahel. Niger has been battling armed groups linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS for a decade.
