Troops from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma rescued seven kidnapped victims and foiled coordinated abduction attempts in Katsina and Zamfara States in northwestern Nigeria. On June 16, 2026, under Operation Cleen Sweep 3, forces stormed a suspected hideout in Fafu village, Matazu LGA, rescuing four victims. In Zurmi, Zamfara State, an abduction attempt was thwarted after a firefight, leading to the rescue of three more hostages. The operations aim to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks in the region.
